The next best hand is a straight, which is 5 cards in order but not in the same suit (for example 4-5-6-7-8). Three of a kind is three matching cards of one rank and two unmatched cards. Four of a kind is four cards of the same rank and three unmatched cards. Two pair is two matching cards of one rank and one unmatched card. And a full house is a pair plus three of a kind.
